The Deanery of Thingoe

Welcome to the website of the Deanery of Thingoe. The Deanery is made up from the 6 town churches of Bury St Edmunds in West Suffolk plus a further 15 churches in nearby villages. Although all are Church of England the style of worship varies between churches. The buildings also vary tremendously in architectural style from the grade one listed flint churches of 13th century, and earlier, to the brick built churches of the mid 20th century. There are 8 stipendiary clergy who are assisted by self supporting ministers, Readers and others in accredited ministries. The Cathedral Church of St Edmundsbury and St James also lies within Thingoe Deanery.
